Things to do in Henderson NV

This year Easter is going to be on Sunday April 5th and there are going to be many Easter activities in the Henderson area. There will be lots of family activities for all ages from Easter egg hunts to pictures with the Easter Bunny. Many of the events will also have games, music, food and entertainment for all ages. Some will be free or a minimal cost and may require registration ahead of time to ensure admittance to the event.

Each of the Easter egg hunts will vary in what type of eggs will be hidden. They will either be for real hard boiled eggs or plastic eggs filled with candy or other goodies. Some of the events will be indoors or outdoors and even one is under water. Remember to bring your own Easter baskets and lots of sunscreen.

History of Easter Bunny and Easter Egg

The Easter bunny came to America in the 1700’s with German immigrants who celebrated the German tradition of an egg laying rabbit called “Osterhase”. The Children would build a nest for the creature to lay colored eggs. This tradition caught on and candy and toys have taken place of building a nest. The Easter Egg was adopted from early pagan ideas that the egg is a symbol of new life.

3. Hop and Shop: Easter Egg Hunt and Family Festival

Date and Time: Saturday April 4th, 2015 10:00A.M. to 5:00P.M.

Where: Town Square, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd South, Las Vegas, NV 89119

Admission: Free

Details: Free Easter egg hunts will take place every 10 minutes during morning and afternoon sessions. Registration begins at 8 A.M. for egg hunts from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M. and registration starts at noon for egg hunts scheduled from 1:30 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. Radio Station Mix 94.1 will be on hand and there will be many fun activities for kids of all ages. Bring your own basket to hold all of your goodies. The Easter will be on hand to take photos cost and packages will vary.

4. Easter Eggstravaganza

Date and Time: Saturday, March 28th 2015 10a.m. to 12p.m.

Details: Bounce Houses, Games, huge egg hunt with over 5,000 eggs.

5. First Henderson UMC Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Date and Time:  Saturday, April 4th 2015 11am –  Ages toddlers to 5th grade

Admission: Free

Details: Easter egg hunts for all ages with more than 2,500 eggs. Children’s music and storytelling. Bring your basket to collect the eggs.

6. Egg Dive

Date and Time: Saturday, April 4th 2015 11:00A.M. to 2:00P.M.

Where: Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Drive, Henderson, NV 89014

Admission: $5

Carnival starts at 11:00A.M.

Ages 2-3 Noon-12:30

Ages 4-5 12:30 to 1:00

Ages 6-8 1:00 to 1:30

Ages 9-12 1:30 to 2:00

Details: Egg drop and underwater egg hunt. Each dive will be divided into age groups. Dozens of eggs will be hiding in the pool and the child who finds the most eggs in the pool will win a prize. Bring your own basket to hold your eggs. There could be eggs on the bottom of the pool. Children who require a life jacket must have a parent within arms length. There will be an hour of open swim also.

7. Hippity-Hop Tots Egg Hunt

Admission:$3

Details: Bring your toddler and their easter basket to roam the halls of the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center to find eggs. The Easter Bunny will be there and you can take photos for a nominal fee. Register by April 1st to ensure admission.
